10.10.11 // The Battle Jericho; words by Sam DuRegger and music by Charlie Koopman — Performed at Third Church in Pella, Iowa — This is a short re-telling of the events leading up to the Battle of Jericho, in a beatnik free form storytelling kinda way. Starting with the Lord’s displeasure with his people, to banishment to the desert, to Moses’ death and Joshua’s anointing as the leader of the people.

Verse 2

Verse 3

40 years of training…
When it’s time to cross the Jordan,
God calls an audible.
Ignoring the plans of Generals,
He layouts a curious scheme.
A conquest, no… A procession.
With Priests and musicians leading the way,
not horses and chariots.
For 6 days they circled Jericho,
marching around the walls…

Then on the 7th day…
