sunrise come…

Tomorrow, I want to see the sun rise from it’s slumber. I want to be held in anticipation as the sun’s aura lightens the dark morning sky, and delight in the the brilliant rays as they crest the horizon.

What I really want is today to end.

I want the worries of the day to dissolve into visions of better times ahead. I intercede against haunting dreams of the past, and pray that the clouds of slumber envelope and comfort. I ask for first light to bring with it a strength for tomorrow as reality comes as quickly as the suns rays lighten the darkness.

As someone who believes in a loving God, who created us and has our best in mind, I stagger when struck with the reality of life when facing death. I am trying to grasp C.S. Lewis’ perspective, when he says…

I believe in Christianity as I believe that the Sun has risen, not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.

My prayer for tonite: Father, be with us. Help us to see the events of the day in the light of the Son, that your perspective becomes ours, that your light shines through the darkness of today. Be with us in our grief and pull close those who are hurting, embrace and comfort them. Give us strength for the reality of tomorrow and faith that brings peace, even when we do not understand the why. We trust your hands… and loosen ours so that the things we grasp tightly return to your control. Amen.
