This is HUGE!!! Republican Former General and Secretary of the State Colin Powell gives a well-thought out and directed endorsement of Senator Barack Obama for President of The United States of America.

The keen thing to note is what Powell had to say about the thinly veiled derogatory insinuation about Muslims and Arabs. That is a disturbing trend of not calling out this notion that being Arab or Muslim is some how unpatriotic or un-American. Both campaigns are guilty of this.

But nonetheless, did you expect anything else? He’s a smart person and can see things above the level of luddites.

His comments (to me) were unexpected, not what he said, but the timeliness of them… I thought he would remain silent through the campaign because of his affiliation with the Republican Party and John McCain…

His opinion has already swayed a few people in my office to commit to Obama (as they were on the fence), and I see this as a huge blow to the Republican Party and their moderate base. Unfortunately the Evangelicals can’t look past the emotionalism that Palin has been a proponent of, namely the Abortion issue and the insinuations that Obamais a terrorist (which implies him being a Muslim)…

The ignorance of the masses still surprises me a bit…

All of this is extremely troubling to me on a human level. Perhaps we are in the days where men’s hearts will fail them for fear. For good reason, no doubt.

I think that I will make a concerted effort, from now on, to return to being inattentive to National and Global Politiks. Concentrate on being a good neighbor, husband, dad, granddad, and husband. This will keep me busy enough.

My hope is in the Lord alone.

I don’t think this is as big of a deal as some people think.

BTW…what’s up with Powell & Biden predicting an “event” that will test the President in January? A bit weird if you ask me…
