explanation…

Some have asked for an explanation as to what led me to pursue Kanakuk Institute and a second Master’s Degree… see July 30th’s post below or click here.  The thought process was drawn out and slow as I took a look at my goal (to write) and began to seek out weaknesses and hindrances to this ambition.  As I indentified some deficiencies and obstacles I realized that more education/knowledge was needed.  In the form of a credential (Master’s in Youth and Family Ministry) and in the way of discipleship.

Let’s face it, life is easier with initials behind your name, albeit a MBA, PHD, MD, MA, etc, etc… agree with it or not these initials give some credibility to a person or as some would say it is what makes a person a “professional”.  Hopefully it will open some doors that would otherwise be closed, as I found the MBA did/does.  KI is an intense discipleship program established to train youth directors for their K-life ministry; a para-church organization much like YoungLife, FCA, and other ministries.  Since the strategic partnership with John Brown University, it became not only a training program but an accredited degree with an tangible result.  Yes, a piece of paper.  The motivation for me is not just this piece of paper but is the biblical knowlege and spiritual discipline that is taught at KI.  Everyone that has been through the program says without a shadow of doubt, “It was the best year of my life”“I grew so much in faith and understanding of the word”…  This rave reveiw by those I respect and the evidence in their lives of wisdom and knowledge led me to pursue this opportunity.  I know that God has a ton for me to learn, as I am continually refined, molded, and shaped into the man God wants me to become.  It will no doubt be challenging and eternally rewarding.

I am getting more excited as the days count down, especially since hearing that a great friend of mine, Danny Crisafulli will be joining me at KI and inflict himself to the cause of being my roomdog…. and a gal from K-CO, ”The Brittany Wang” will be there as well… we did the addition, remembered to carry the four and found out we will be living together for about 15 months… hoooraayyy!!!

It all sounds very exciting and challenging. Can’t wait to read more in the adventures of Sam Duregger! P.S. Noticed “God” is back in your post with no abbreviaton.

These plans sounds perfect for you. I hope you’ll get back to Norman now and then so we can see you and keep tabs on you! I haven’t forgotten about your money, and I will send it as soon as everything is worked out. There’s some mess-up with PayPal and it takes 30 days for them to look into it. We’ll get in touch with you before we mail anything to get your new address.
