11 days…

Pure New Zealand

A six-foot roller breaks,
heavy enough to knock a man over,
a slab…

The undertoe sucks you over the top
and body slams you,
hard…

Pounding you into the sand,
breathless vertigo,
a white wash…

Dragging head over heals,
board broken,
a prayer…

The riptide carries you out,
helpless,
desparate,
and alone…

Awesome! My husband led a couple of summer missions trips in Kiwi-Land. I’ve always been a tad jealous.

Oh New Zealand, they have good mountains. Actually, they have good everything. Maury = Jealous.
