Sitting in LAX right now, listening to some “Explosions in the Sky” and trying to waste some time.  We’ve been here in LA since 5:30 pm (Pacific Time) and our flight will depart at 11:00 pm (Pacific)… Since we got here I have:

Taken a nap

Read a couple chapters of “On the Road” by Jack Kerouac

Stared at ceiling tiles

Talked to a Native New Zealander, who gave us some fantastic tips.

Converted $80 into 100 NZ – there is a 75% conversian rate (their dollar is worth 75 cents American)

Ate some Bruger King (I remember why I HATE fast food)

Talked to some folks on the mobile

It is kinda surreal to be flying to New Zealand, a place I have always dreamed of going, but never really thought would get the chance.  It will be an incredible trip with a lot planned, but also some chill time in the mix.  I am looking forward to hanging out with these guys and getting to know them more.  This is also an awesome opportunity to begin the proposal for the book I want to write.  Hopefully I’ll finish the proposal on the flight home and be able to post it here and get some feedback from you guys.

Well, that’s about all for now, check back regularly for more updates and some pics and videos… NZOB!

I’ll look over your book proposal if you’ll look over mine. :)

I have an idea for a backpacking book for women dealing with women’s skills, equipment, conditioning, etc. as well as some inspirational stories about women backpackers. I have some ideas of contributors and such and I should finish it within the next year as some of the contributors I want live in CO. I think it’d be a good beginning book.

Anyway good luck on your proposal and have fun. I look forward to hearing about it.
