Below is a link to a WTF podcast episode by Marc Maron, and his interview with Robin Williams. Yes, it is funny, and surprisingly deep… as Robin and Marc offer the listener a glimpse into their comedic careers and the fear that drives them and their comedy. It’s rare to hear such an honest interview with Robin Williams, as most seem to degrade into a sketch or skiff (though he does have a terrific interlude near the end that is epic). At it’s core, this transparent conversation is fantastic peek behind his creative mind and the darkness that has entrapped him in his past. The interview hit me particularly strong, in the sense of the fragility of creativity, amidst the aura of success… which as Robin attests does not have lasting impact on his sense of self, rather it erodes the edge that comes with fighting for creative space. Creativity, it seems, even for the successful – is always a struggle, always a war and always worth the fight – as it gave him something to live for when all else seemed lost.

One Caveat, the show is Rated R – due to coarse language. There are a lot of F-bombs throughout the show… You’ve been warned.

So. If you choose to listen, let me know what your thoughts are… and please no comments on the cussing, I already warned you it was packed full, and it’s now your choice whether or not to listen.
