Here are some things I use on a quasi-daily basis…
iPhone: I’ve been an iPhone user for 3 years and I can’t find a reason to own a Blackberry, though the Android operating system is a great rival product (I’ve used all three as part of my job testing different YouVersion Bible apps when I worked as Project Manager on the Digerati Team). I still say the iPhone is the best smartphone on the market, especially when you embrace the efficiency-trio of the iPhone, iPad, and Macbook which has become a deadly combination at killing it!
iPad: I’m an early adopter… and have been stoked about the way the iPad has integrated in my workflow. It is like having a notebook at your fingertips, that also plays movies, researches blog posts, and keeps you socialized to the masses. It has become my primary device outside of the house for meetings and work, and allows my laptop to become my workhorse at home, where I do most of my heavy lifting (coding, design, writing, et cetera). Though it’s not a fun device to read for extended amounts of time on, see my thoughts on the Kindle below.
MacBook Air: Wow. Since moving to iPhone, iPad, iMac power trio, I found my MacBook Pro too hefty of a machine for what I needed a laptop for, notably a portable traveling machine that had just enough power to fix any website or video emergencies and to aid me in my writing. This device has been the perfect fit. Incredibly slim and lightweight, fits in my bag and leaves room for other traveling gadgets.
Kindle: The best pure book reader on the market right now… it doesn’t do social media for a reason. I love this device when traveling, as it gives my shoulders a rest from carrying around 3-4 books, and lessens my overweight checked bag. I’m finding myself reading mostly fiction and biography/memoirs, as I still like to scribble in the margins in my theology books.
22″ iMac: My workhorse. From photo editing, to coding, to css styling, to video editing, to graphic design, this machine stays on most of the day as I plug away on my projects and hobbies. When I travel, Dropbox keeps all my files synced to my Macbook, so I don’t lose a step and while I’m away this beauty can stay in the office and catch up on it’s zzzz’s.
24″ Cinema View: In looking for another monitor for a dual monitor experience in my office, I came across this gem. The price was right as well, as it is $400 cheaper than Apple’s Cinema Display. As quality is concerned, it’s a dead ringer, and aesthetically it matches up beautifully with my iMac.
Bowers & Wilkins Speakers: This was one of the best splurge buys of the year… I needed some quality speakers for my office, as I have been doing a lot more producing lately and have found these an unbelievable purchase. The sound that these small speakers kick out is astounding, and the sleek design doesn’t mess with the feng shui-ness of my office desk. And the slim remote works across the room and let’s you control the volume and track selection at the touch of a button.
Macbook: I love this computer. Which is why I gave it to my wife when I purchased the MacBook Air. One of the reasons I love Apple is the operating system and it’s ease of use, I have multiple apps running on my current Macbook that are steriods for my productivity, for this reason alone it’s hard to go back to PC, even if Windows 7 promises a better user experience, it can’t beat the functionality of Apple’s OSX.
42″ HP Interactive Touch Screen: Need some digital signage? Or a welcome screen for you church or business? This is the way to do it. Utilizing some sweet code work by Fresk Interactive, I’m getting resources together to sell more of these to churches and businesses. At Samwell Creative I’ve used this device to make any local church’s welcome center interactive and less cluttered.
