“Short Film Friday” focuses on films & music videos that are 1 – 5 minutes in duration.

11.19.10 // Skip Town by Banner Gwin — with a quick, jerky cinemotography this film explores manic storytelling, with music setting the pace and the rhythm of the film. Not my favorite, BUT it kept my attention and the way in which it was filmed deserves a second look.

Interesting editing style, but I feel like it was over used. The quick and repetitive cuts would have been more effective if we were able to see some long shots to break up the pacing.

I also feel like the plot line didn’t go anywhere. We were introduced to the idea that he was getting out in a hurry, and he was desperate (leaving his car), but the overall plot line didn’t move much. Maybe the director wanted the viewer to fill their own blank, but that’s no excuse for a story that isn’t well written.

    Good find Sam

Chase, I agree the style was very much overused, but yet it projected the emotions this guy was feeling onto me as the viewer. I couldn’t help but feel anxious, ruffled, and paranoid as I was watching the film… all the way to the end.

    good thoughts.
